Lists of props, costumes and locations

This is a Mid shot of the room were the thriller opening sequence will mainly be based, as you can see there is a table were the main character is sat at the start of the thriller opening sequence, here he looks out his window to take notes on the people that walk past.

This shot is of the rest of the room which will be used as the main location in the thriller opening sequence, as you can see there is a door which allows the rest of the front room to be accessed if needed.

This is the hall way of the house, this location will be used at the end of the thriller opening sequence when the main character (Stevie) crawls into the hall way to look at the front door.
This is a long shot of the front of the house, this location is used when the hoodies are outside and also when the business man walks past, as you can see there is the window which the main character (Stevie) looks out of, this allows the audience to see what the characters see when they walk past Stevie's house.

This is a shot of the front door of the owners house, this location will be used at the end of the sequence when the hoodies walk up towards the door and the protagonist Stevie takes a picture.
This is a prop of a piece of paper and a pen these props will be used in the thriller opening sequence when the protagonist Stevie takes notes of the man in the suit who walks past his house, this prop is key because it allows the audience to see what he' like around the public.

This prop is of a kitchen knife, this prop is used to show how paranoid he is about other people and he uses the prop to defend himself even though he is perfectly safe.

This is a prop of a mug, this prop has been chosen and will be in the opening sequence because it shows that he's paranoid because he constantly drinks coffee out this mug.

This is the clothing which the protagonist Stevie wears, he wears this costume through out the sequence this shows that he doesn't take care of himself because he doesn't change his clothes

These are the hoodies which the teenagers will be wearing when they are shown in the sequence, as a group we choose these costumes because they are stereotypically shown as the things which teenagers wear.

This is the costume for the business man who walks past Stevie's house at the start of the thriller opening sequence, as a group we choose this costume because it is smart and it is what a typical business man wears.

Casting

This is a video of the casting, in this video each of the actors which perform in the thriller opening sequence talk about their character's and what their characters do in the opening sequence. This video allowed us to work out who played what character because before we recorded the video we had a discussion about who should play the correct character.

Location permission

To film our thriller opening sequence we had to create this letter saying that if it's ok to film on the owners property, as you can see the owner signed the form so we are allowed to film on their property.

Titles

This is a video for my groups titles which will be included in our thriller opening sequence, the titles consist of the actors names, for instance the main character is played by Michael clack and some of the other actors are Daniel dawkins, Joe ventham, Robbie pople. The titles also contains the names of crew members which help make this opening sequence, for example it was directed by Robbie pople and Michael clack.

Animatic

With our animatic it allows us as a group to see what the opening sequence will look like visually. with our feedback we got given, the majority was based on the titles. we got told that the three main pieces of feedback for the titles is that we should think about the placing of the titles, the names of people involved in the titles and the choice of the music.

Another piece of feedback was to do with the placing of the shots for the opening sequence we will have to discuss and decide about the placing of the titles which will be in the opening sequence. As a group we will have to get a good understanding of our shots so we can place our titles in the correct place.

For the people who are involved in the opening sequence, the titles we will have to be changed for some peoples names as they are shown much more frequently then other names, this might lead to us having to make up a name too often this will mean making up a name.

For the choice of the music which will be included in the opening sequence, we had a discussion about what music should and shouldn't be included in the opening sequence, we looked at everyone's music and discussed which one's were good and which one's weren't as good to use for the genre of a thriller.

Storyboards

This is a image of my first story board which has been filled in by five shots which will be included in the thriller opening sequence, we have done a story board because it allows us to get a visual image in to what our opening sequence will be like also it allows us to check to see if any shots aren't good enough our don't fit with the sequence. Also with these storyboards it has allowed us to change our idea for our sequence; before the sequence plot wasn't that realistic and if trying to look at it visually it was quiet difficult, now we've changed it it's much more easier to visualize.

This is the second page for our storyboards, this page is also filled in with five shots which will be used in our sequence, with these shots on this page of the storyboard it allowed us as a group to show the audience the main character which is in the thriller opening sequence, with the ideas for the shots we had a initial idea of what we wanted but it was to difficult to actually perform and visualize so the storyboard allowed us to change our shots so it was more easier to perform and visualize.

These are two more storyboards which show the middle section of the thriller opening sequence, whilst using the storyboards it helped us to decide what shots would look best for our sequence so by drawing the shots out onto the storyboards it helped us to choose the best possible shots which created the most effect for our audience.

These are the storyboards for the ending of the thriller opening sequence, these storyboards helped us to decide and choose the best possible shots which will make our thriller opening sequence the best which it can be and to also to get the best possible mark.

Sound

http://audionautix.audionautixcom.netdna-cdn.com/Music/Beginning.mp3

I choose this sound track because i thought that it added that extra effect to our location for our thriller opening sequence, also it gives that sense of something being not right and a bit weird were this links to main characters emotions and actions in the thriller opening sequence.

http://audionautix.audionautixcom.netdna-cdn.com/Music/Beginning.mp3

I choose this sound track because it gives the sense that's somethings odd and not normal, also it makes the audience feel on edge because the track is creating that dark and tense effect.

http://audionautix.audionautixcom.netdna-cdn.com/Music/Beginning.mp3

I choose this sound track because the pace is slow and the pitch is low, this creates a dark and mysterious effect for the audience because it's representing the location of the thriller opening sequence and also the personality of the main character in the opening sequence.

Soundtracks that have been chosen
The first soundtrack is one of the piece's of sound which has been chosen for our opening sequence, this sound builds the tension and gives the hint to the audience that something might happen? This music could also be used whilst the protagonist is being introduced in the thriller this could show to the audience that this character could be quite creepy and not normal. The second soundtrack has been chosen by the group because it suggests that this character is weird and creepy also it shows and could represent what the main character hears through out the thriller opening sequence because of his condition, also it allows the audience to make a judgment on this character because of the sound which represents his illness. The third soundtrack has been chosen by the group because it's very fast pace and high pitch this shows to the audience what the character is feeling and what it's like for him also could represent his thoughts and feelings in the opening sequence.

shot list key shots

This shot is a close up of a note which has a picture of a person who has walked past the main characters house, the text is talking about what the people were wearing, i think this shot will be a good shot to add because it allows the audience to see how the main character is around people outside of his house.

This shot is a low angle close up of the arm of the main characters dead mother, i think that this shot should be included because it allows the audience to witness what he was like before he came a schizophrenic, also to show the main reason how he became a schizophrenic.

This shot is a extreme long shot and also a master shot, which is of a person walking past the main characters house and also of the main character looking outside his window whilst he writes about this person, i think this shot should be included because it allows the audience to see how he is a round others and also what he does when people walk past his house.

This shot is a high angle shot also an over the shoulder shot of the main character, writing in his book, i think that this shot is key for our thriller opening sequence, this is because this shots allows the audience to see what the main character does when he see's a person walk past also this shot shows the prop of the book were he keeps all his memories and also notes on the people that walk past our make contact with this character.

This is my first image of my two, this first image is of a note on a board, this is a extreme close up of the note showing the audience how the main character of the opening sequence writes about everything that happens outside his house this allows the audience to understand what the main character is like and what he does in his home. I wanted to have this shot because i thought that it allows the audience to see how this characters acts in the opening sequence and how they would judge him as a character.

This is my second image of the same board but the shot has been zoomed out so you can see the whole board filled with notes. I wanted this shot because it allows the audience to realize what the character is like and how over time he has filled up this board with all these notes which are filled with people's actions outside his house. I also choose this shot because the board filled with notes symbolizes how the main characters illness has built up other time like the board.

Plot Synopsis

Research Audience Vox Pops

At looking at my vox pops, for the first question, all the people that we asked said that their should be a murder weapon included, so this gives us the initial idea in that we should include a murder weapon in our opening sequence, this is because if we look at what the audience expects to see their would be no point going against that because the audience don't expect it.

For the second question, the people that were asked said that the pace should be slow to create tension then slowly build up for that extra effect. So for our opening sequence were going to have the pace be slow to start this allows the audience to see the location of the opening sequence and also to get that extra knowledge of the main character.

When asking people the third question, people said that the main antagonist should be a male, this is because their more superior to females also their shown as more smart and intelligent than, so by looking at the results this allows us to see that our antagonist for our thriller opening sequence should be a male because our audience suggests that their are stereotypically more stronger than females.

For the fourth question, we asked people how they should be feeling at the end of the sequence, most of the people that we asked said that they would be expecting to want to ask questions about the rest of the film and also they wanted to be left to wanting to know more about the film. Whilst looking at the feedback we discussed as a group to make our piece make the audience ask questions and making them wanting to know more.

The fifth question was that should an opening sequence contain action, most of the people that we asked said that in a thriller opening sequence, their shouldn't be a lot of action the opening sequence should unfold the plot for the rest of the film, but their should be some action to excite the audience. So for our thriller opening sequence were going to try and unravel the story for the audience, also try to include some action to excite the audience.

Audience Reseach 1

In This blog im going to be writing about my research for my opening sequence for a thriller.
This is my questionnaire which i will be giving 10 people to write and give back to me, I've choose these questions because i want a high range of answers also i want to know what my target audience wants so i can get more knowledge in how to make my opening sequence for the thriller genre better.

When I've collected the results i will put it into an excel document were i will put all my information together then present it into graphs like pie charts, bar charts and line graphs.

Audeince Research 2

This is my Excel document were i added all my feedback from my questionnaires. i used this feedback to create charts for the results to be stored in.
This pie chart represents the answers for the first question in the questionnaire. What is your gender? as you can see their was more boys than girls who we asked for this first question.

This is a bar chart which is representing the answers for the second question. What is your age? as you can see all the people we asked were in the age brackets of 16 to 24, this is because this is the target audience for my film?
This is a line graph which shows the third question of our questionnaire. What do you enjoy about thriller films? As you can see about the results most of the people we asked said that the thing that they enjoyed about thriller films is the build up, this gives us a more understanding in how we should base our thriller film?

This pie chart represents the answers for the fourth question. How often do you watch thriller films a month? By looking at these results we can see that the people we asked watch thriller films once to two times a month.

This is a bar chart of the results for the fifth question. What do you expect to see in an opening sequence for a thriller? By looking at the results we can see most of the people which we asked said that they expect to see low key lighting in a thriller film, so by looking at these results this helps us to understand what to include in a thriller opening sequence.
This line graph represents the results for the sixth question in the questionnaire. What location do you expect to see in a thriller? The results that we received show that the people that we asked choose the location to be a creepy building, this gives us the understanding in where it would be best to film our thriller opening sequence.

This bar chart shows the responses of the people who answered the question of, Who do you expect the main protagonist to be? The highest answer we received was white male this gives us the knowledge of who should be our main protagonist for our thriller opening.

This bar chart shows the feed back which received back from our eighth question  from our questionnaire. What do you think should be in a opening sequence for a thriller? by looking at the results we can see that all the results were equal this means that we could either ask more people our come together as a group and discuss what would be best for our sequence.

This chart shows the answers from question ninth question in the questionnaire. How do you expect the main protagonist to be behaving? if we look at the results we can see that people voted that they wanted the main protagonist to be serious this gives us the indication that our main protagonist should be serious.

This pie chart shows the feedback from the tenth question which is do you think an opening sequence is important? as you can see by the results most of the people answered yes this means that this gives us an idea in that most of the people that watch thrillers find the opening sequence important.

This is my first questionnaire were i had a person fill it out, if you look at the questionnaire the person who i asked thought hard about this because they gave me a good range of answers which i can use for my thriller opening.
This questionnaire shows a different range of answers from the first questionnaire for example in the first questionnaire for question 9 the first person they wrote the answer of normal and in the second questionnaire they wrote the answer of serious, this allows me to get a bigger range of answers to improve my opening sequence.

images of locations

In this image, it is a long shot of the back of the harvester on the A217, i took this picture because i thought it would be a good location for a thriller, this is because the location is concealed and closed of, only thing i have to criticize is that it's open so you cannot get low key lighting which gets a better effect in a opening sequence for a thriller.

In this shot, it is also a long shot of a bench outside the harvester, i took this picture because i thought it would be a good location for a romantic comedy this is because it is outside a restaurant and this is where normally people socializing.
This shot is an extreme long shot of the bridge, i took this picture because i thought it would be a good location for a thriller film this is because the location is concealed and dangerous because it is high up and below are driving cars, however this is a bright area so their would be high key lighting which isn't a convention of a thriller.
This is a extreme long shot of an alley, i took this image because it is an concealed location for a thriller, this is because the lighting would be quite low at later at night also this is a good location for a crime our something were this danger could take place.
This is an long shot of an alley surrounded by trees, i took this shot because i thought it would be the perfect location for a romantic film this is because the location is bright and romantic for a couple to walk down.
This is a long shot of a roundabout this is a good location for a thriller this is because if the character was on the roundabout they would be vulnerable to a threat, this is why i took the image because i thought the location is good for the opening sequence for a thriller film.
